bored baby?

anyone have any good ideas for how to entertain a restless (15-month old) baby during the day? we don't really have a backyard, walking to and from the library only takes up so much time, and the same old toys get awfully boring.

the babyjosh show: The End??

WARNING: Tragic episode. Read at your own risk!

hey addie, what's up?

babyjosh, there's something i need to tell you...

today is our last playdate. i'm moving away.

noooooo....

where are you going, babyjosh?

babyjosh?!?

that's it. i can't take it anymore!

no, babyjosh! don't do it!
i'll save you!

but you've dashed my heart to pieces, addie. what can i do?

we'll think of something. don't worry.

i've got it!

remember my cheerleading career?

addie, this is no time for cheerleading. please.

no, listen!
i'll go to byu and be a cheerleader and i'll see you there!
hmmm...

you know, that just might work...

yes, it's brilliant!
we'll meet up and be best friends again!

k, let's practice a cheer right now then.

rah rah, rah-rah-rah!
um... uh...

rah rah! gooooo byu...
rah... slow down, addie, i'm going to fall!

...rah, rah!
ooh, cheerleading is hard!

maybe i'd better leave the cheerleading to you.
i'll just be a byu football player.

okay, babyjosh.
not everyone's got the talent, you know.

and at least we'll be together!

bye, addie. i love you!

see you in a few years, babyjosh!

Transported...

I've been having a hard time finding music I like lately. I want something new, something refreshing. I want someone to create something that isn't the same ol' smooth voice and acoustic guitar or mindless, tuneless drivel. Something with melody, something I can obsess over and listen to endlessly...

Every once in a while, I do feel something when I listen to a new piece of music. Once in a blue moon, I hear something and I am immediately transported, transformed into someone else, whisked away. These times are rare and inexplicable (and I'm not talking about music that reminds me of friends or old memories-- I'm talking about something that just catches me up the moment I hear it for the first time).

What is it about a song that transcends reality in those rare moments? I don't know. But it's pretty awesome when it happens. Here are two songs that transported me recently:

Here and here.

Does this happen to anyone else? What songs or artists make you feel that way? I'd love some new music to listen to.

Livin' on the Edge

With AuntCam and UncleRy, jr. learned about livin' on the edge this weekend. Big time.

"ready to start your 4-wheeling career, jr? you'll be the youngest champ ever!"

"step on the gas, junes. we're outta here!"

"no really, junes. fording a river is as easy as 1, 2, 3."

"just jump in, jr. live a little!"

"eat all the cookies you want, little guy. your parents will never know...."

"woo-hoo! livin' on the edge is fun!"
(no really, i'm about to fall off the edge of this bench.)
