13 pounds.

So I have about 13 pounds to lose to reach the goal weight I've set for myself... and then I get to spend TWO HUNDRED dollars on clothes! That's motivation, right??? I don't think I've ever spent that much on clothing all at once in my life except maybe when shopping for my mission. Or my wedding.

The only problem is, I've been on a diet (more veggies, less desserts... don't worry, I'm not starving my baby) for two weeks and I haven't even lost a pound. Hmph. Should I just give up? Should I lower my goal? Should I call it quits and get out the Rocky Road? Aaargh.

For me, losing baby weight is KILLER. And I don't want to hear about how all you superwomen lost the weight with a snap of your fingers, thank you very much.

In a week or two I will start my exercise program and hopefully seal the deal...

(Or not. Last time I think I was still about five pounds above my pre-pregnancy weight when I got pregnant again. If I were to gain five pounds with every baby and have five kids... well, that's 25 pounds. And when you're not even five feet tall, well, those 25 pounds really count!)

this is to remind myself that it's worth it--
gaining a pound or two to get two beautiful boys!

If you're only 13 pounds off at this point, I think you're doing pretty good! At 6 weeks after Addie, I was still about 25 or 30 pounds over where i wanted to be- so you're doing well, I have total faith! Those pics are super cute :)

I wouldnt stress it until you are done breastfeeding. Some bodies just need that weight to sustain their babies. I know that whenever I tried to hard to lose weight while nursing my babies weight always plateaued or dropped.
Hang in there. Its hard but just keep eating smart and know that if you are eating well and not losing its because your body needs it.

Adele, I always get so excited when I see that you have a new blog post!

I haven't had any babies yet so I don't know if I have any good advice. Good job eating more veggies! I remember that you hate them. You should get an extra reward just for that! I heard that drinking more water helps too. Also, you could try eating fruit or drinking 100% juice to substitute for sweets. Good luck!!

This comment is completely unheard of. You will be surprised.

I LOVE YOU EXACTLY AS YOU ARE!!!!

Don't try to change anything. Don't say, "Oh, you're my Mother, you have to say that."

So, go ahead and exercise, eat right, etc. so you'll be HEALTHY.

(told you that you never heard me say this before)

I don't know; the only way I ever lost weight was meticulous calorie counting in and out. But it's hard. Good luck with your goal!

it really will happen. Once you can start excersising it push the last 13 out. Hard work always does what you want it to.

Good Luck!! Your boys really are cute!

My hubby said that a realistic weight loss goal is 2 pounds a month if you are including mild amounts of exercise and smaller portions (better food) for meals. I too have been trying to lose baby weight and just ME weight for the last two months and have only gained a few pounds instead. BUT my other goals include measuring my waist, thighs, and chest to see if those are making a difference. And they are. I feel more definition in my legs and abs and have more energy...I'm just not losing the weight just yet. You usually gain weight at first when starting up exercising because you're activating your muscles and muscles weigh more than fat. So that's a killer. Don't lose hope!! And don't stop because even if it's a slow process...it's still going to give you rewards in the end. You'll feel much better that you're trying to be healthier. Find someone who you can work with and report to weekly or something. I do that with my sister and it's been helpful. Always remember that you might fall off the wagon once in a while but you can still get right back on. Um, and on some news thing they did a segment on health/diet that said to drink a glass of water before every meal. I recommend that. Oh and I'm not sure but I think all the working out I started doing actually hurt my breastmilk production...that and baby's illnesses (which means she wasn't eating as much anyway)...so don't worry too much yet. Ok, sorry that was a long comment.

You are a babe! I wouldn't stress too much about it! You are adorable and so are your two boys. The pictures on my made me really excited for my baby boy to come and play with his big brother.

In three months... I will be back to doing my Hip-hop Abs workouts- DAILY! Our kids can play together and we'll dance the pounds aways in my living room, because I am seriously feeling FAT!

Plus, if we both have double strollers- there's no telling how many miles we can walk together. We just have to find a street wide enough for 2 double strollers.

Just don't get too skinny without me!

Oh my gosh your boys are so cute! I know I say it all the time but I just want to squeeze them! You are looking fantastic as well. 13 pounds is a great goal and I know you can do it! Don't pick up the rocky road! It might be slow but just remember that you'll get there and besides you just had Bennett like a month ago and you're on the right track! I'm proud of you :)

Yay! 13 lbs left is awesome! That happened to me after I had Chloe. Everyone's bodies are different though, so it is hard to say if your weight will stay the same, if you will loose it all from nursing, or gain it all back.

My weight tends to hang around for a bit. Usually at around 8 months post pg, I start losing it more quickly (but it's still not a cakewalk, in spite of what you might think!) It may be that, w hile you're breastfeeding, your body will want to hang on to weight more. :) Just keep eating healthy and exercizing, is what I tell myself... weight loss or not, that's what's the right thing to do for my body. And eventually my body will realize it's safe again to let go of those few extra pounds.

Having said that, i think I have gained a couple of "permanent" pounds with each pregnancy. This time (I always say this) I'm going to work them ALL OFF with an extreme exercize regimen like when I was on the ski team in high school, and by eating a lot more veggies and a lot less carbs. Good luck to me. Good luck to you.

Good luck to all of us.

Good thing our husbands all think we're sexy no matter what.

Holy crap Adele, you just had a baby, give yourself a break! You look stinkin' amazing!
The nurse for our birthing class talked about loosing baby weight and her advice was that it took you 9 months to put on that weight and for most women it's going to take at least that long to get rid of it! No need to pull out the rocky road just yet (at least not to eat the whole thing).

You are doing great, but I totally know how you feel. Baby weight is terribly hard for me to lose too. Don't give up! A friend of mine says it takes at least a year to get your body back....I just keep going on that so I don't get so frustrated. :-)

I lost the weight just by nursing. ;)LOL J/K. I actually gained 20 back after that. Blah! I've been exercising for 3 weeks and eating better and guess what? I gained 2 lbs. So I hear you with hating losing weight! So I have an idea. Want to rant and rave together on walks? I saw you walking the other day and thought. That's what I should be doing! Let me know if you like the idea and we'll go out! And be annoyed together! LOL

Here's the deal (I know, I know, my comment is a little late)- you look FABULOUS!! You certainly don't look like you have 13 pounds to even lose. Seriously. This isn't just a Mom comment (sorry Mom, but you asked for it!). And I remember you being pretty much a skinny pants rather quickly after having the Junebug too, so I wouldn't sweat it if I were you. (Way to go Emily. No Sweat.)
Love you Delbs!
