Blessed Helmet

(Whose idea was it to name our baby Bennett William, anyway? Seems like he was doomed from the get-go.)

BENNETT: Medieval form of English Benedict, meaning "blessed."
WILLIAM: English form of Norman French Wilhelm, meaning "will-helmet."

yay! bathtime means no helmet!

When we started the helmet process, Bennett's head was at 10 mm (that's the difference between the two sides of his head, determined by measuring from the right base of the skull to the left temple, and then from the left base to the right temple -- if his head were perfect, the measurement would be zero). That's a moderate/severe case of plagiocephaly, and usually the point where the physical therapist or pediatrician will recommend a helmet.

He was at 5 mm last Tuesday, four weeks from when he got his helmet. Reduced by half! Awesome!!!

The normal range for a person's head is usually between 2 - 4 mm, even up to 6 mm. So Bennett might only have to wear his helmet for another month! Woohoo! (I can't wait to kiss my darling baby's head whenever I want to without finding my mouth on cold plastic.)

Here is Bennett celebrating how good he thinks he looks in his helmet.

Okay, I totally love the video. He's rockin' that helmet and he knows all about it :)

That's great news that he's progressing so well! Fingers crossed that his helmet term will be shortened!

Oh MY!! That handsome Bennett William just gets cuter (even with a helmet) and sweeter daily. He's also a "blessed" boy to have parents who care about his skull. I'm also blessed to have such fabulous grandsons. And please keep those videos coming. They make my day, week, month etc. since I just have to play them each and every time I see your blog.

Sweeeeeeeet baby boy! He's just such a smiley kid. Even when he's not necessarily smiling, his cute little face still looks smiley. Oh gosh I love him. That's awesome about his head progression too!
